Water water everywhere, we're gonna get WET!

So, we landed in Indy at 2am (after many delayed flights) and drove home. We pulled up to the apartment at 4am, very very VERY ready for bed. Upon getting out of the car, we realized the building fire alarm was going off, and no one else was home. We raced up to our apartment -- that is when the REAL surprise came. We heard the distinct sound of a waterfall.... INSIDE the apartment. All I could do is stand and say "Oh my God...." while Oliver went racing into the line of fire. The hall light didn't work. so he hit every switch in the apartment till one did turn on. And then we saw this....

Security came and shut off the water, the on-call guys came (offered little help and shocked themselves senseless on some live wires), the cleanup crew soaked up tons of water... all while Oliver and I moved a LOT of furniture. We finally crashed in another vacant apartment about 7:30 this morning. Still no answer about what they are going to do with us.... apparently they had to vacate a sister complex completely and many from another sister apartment for the SAME REASON. They moved them all into our complex. We're the 5th apartment in our complex that this happened to YESTERDAY ALONE. They are kinda out of room.... I'm about to go reek some havoc on that apartment manager tomorrow. Praying we get out of the lease.... I'm so done.

OMIGOSH, that's horrendous! I am so sorry. I can understand what an awful thing that was, to come home to. *frowns* I wish there was something I could do. Have they found the cause of this whole mess???

The pipes to the hot water heaters run along the outside walls.... they are all bursting at the point where the insulation stops. Then they short out the fire alarm system and send it screaming. Had anyone else been home, then maybe they would have heard the alarm system and the water could have been stopped. Instead it flooded our apartment and the apartment below us (luckily, it is vacant). IF we had stayed in Indy for the night (like we were thinking about) this could have been a WHOLE lot worse. Totally a God-thing that we came straight home.

Ah, to be young, in love and homeless. lol

Been there, done that.

Guess what, you wont melt.

You will look back on this 20 years from now as the best part of your life. Guaranteed.

So enjoy every second of it.

Tanks
Daddy Jeff
