Swissôtel
So Oliver has officially started at his new job. The first thing they had him do was a three-day business trip to Chicago. They were going to put him up in a hotel and pay for his travel expenses. You know what I had to say to that? "I'm in!"
Imagine the surprise to arrive in a $600 room with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan and Navy pier. The bed is beyond huge, and just as lovely as the Ritz Carlton bed we slept in on our honeymoon. The bathroom features a tub AND glassed in shower. I'm living it up! Too bad I had a ton of paperwork to do yesterday and found myself glued to the computer.... but the view kept me in good spirits! And, since there is a pool, my little cousins are coming in from Indiana tomorrow!
Later in the evening we walked down to Navy Pier to sit and talk by the water. It was very beautiful! We watched a barge float out to sea, listened to the music off the party boats and enjoyed the perfect weather. We began to head back towards the hotel, discussing what we should eat for dinner when we heard the first of the fireworks. That barge going out into the lake was carrying all the fireworks for a nightly show! We stood in a nearby park and enjoyed the fireworks before REALLY heading back to the hotel.
More to come tomorrow! I begin sightseeing on my own .... I don't think I have ever done that!
